The Cumby

The Cumby - 14 km

Long Course Route – Approximately 14 km - 335 meters elevation gain

Children and youth must be accompanied by an adult. This is an important race safety issue. It is an unsupported race. We do not want young runners out there on their own.

During the race period (May 1-9) the route will be marked using white lime to support participants in following the route described below.

The Mini Cumby and the longer 14 km Cumby both start at the bottom of Sutton Road, past the yellow gate, beside the Information Kiosk. Please do not tarry here. You will see a strip of white lime, that is your start line. Run up the short distance to Mama Bear and turn right and follow that lovely forest trail. Turn right at the Swamp Trail sign and follow that trail along to the long boardwalk and before you reach the shelter on the Hai Gai Road make a quick right, through the parking lot, and then a quick left along the Wellington Colliery Railway Trail towards the Japanese Town Site. Run through the small parking lot, along the trail through the Town Site and leading onto a winding forest trail which will pop you onto Comox Lake Road. Turn left,  staying safe along the road shoulder.  You will notice you cross a bridge and after about 350 m leave Comox Lake Road by turning left and run past the yellow gate, follow the old logging road for about 250m then veer left onto another minor road which, after about 1 k, takes you to the beginning of the signed China Creek Trail on your right. Follow that trail back towards Perseverance Creek. Before you cross the bouncy bridge you will turn right for the  longer 14k route turns up the Hai Gai Trail.  This is where the two routes separate.  The Cumby 14 km route goes to the top of Hai Gai Trail.  At the top turn left on Davis Lake Main, go over the bridge, through the yellow gate and  along the Dam Road. Go past the Short and Curly entrance on the left, and keep going up the Dam road veering left along the gravel road  to the north side of Allen Lake and follow the road as it curves back ,  crosses a creek and joins Allan Lake North Road.  Where Allan Lake North Road intersects with Shaker road take a quick left to enter Short and Curly, down Short and Curly, back across the Davis Lake Main road and all the way down Buggered Pig, and  right on Two and a Juice , go right up Missing Link, left down Found Link, and Lost and Found, then turn right up Davis Lake Main turn left onto and down on  Kitty Litter, and down to Space Nugget to Davis Lake Main turning  left and off to the finish line at the Information Kiosk.
