March 29 and April 12 . Meet in the Cumberland Village Park parking lot by 08:50 to be sorted into groups. This is a familiarization run, not a training run. No dogs please.
Well, for one thing they are free to participants. It is a very good idea to join us for our 'fam' runs for those runners who have yet had a chance to experience the Cumberland Hills or have raced with us. We especially want to encourage our youth to join us accompanied by an adult. It is a fun time to meet fellow runners. The Cumby organizing committee is all about safety in the hills and we want our racers to know what they are signing up for on May 3. Come and join us if you are registered in the Cumby. Otherwise, be prepared to sign a waiver.
There will be group leaders and sweeps to lead Full Cumby, Half Cumby and Quarter Cumby runners. Within those groups will be 2 - 3 levels of self selected running ability. All are welcome.
March 29
Quarter Cumby - We plan to run medium speed or run/walk the whole 8.0 km
Half Cumby - We plan to run the whole of the Half Cumby course at slow/medium or medium/fast speed
Full Cumby - We plan the first 16 km of the Full Cumby course at slow/medium or medium/fast speed
April 12 (three weeks from race day)
Quarter Cumby - We plan to run medium speed or run/walk the whole 8.0 km
Half Cumby - We plan to run the whole of the Half Cumby course at slow/medium or medium/fast speed
Full Cumby - We plan to run the first and lst sections of the Full Cumby - about 20 km at slow/medium or medium/fast speed
The familiarization runs are not considered training runs. It is an opportunity to get to know the routes and understand that the Cumby is a wilderness event. Please stay behind the leader. That is a firm no on the dogs joining us.
